Kris Allen Cancels Appearance on Tonight Show After Death in Family
July 14, 2009 by Jeanne
Access Hollywood is reporting that Kris Allen’s grandmother has passed away and, while he mourns the loss, he has opted to bow out of a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.
If you follow the reigning American Idol on Twitter, you probably say this message last night: “I know I was supposed to do conan on wed, but there was a death in my family.”
In case you are worried that he might not be at some of the upcoming American Idols Live tour dates, don’t fret. He hasn’t canceled any appearances yet.
If you were really looking forward to some Idol action on Conan this week you’re in luck. Finalist, Allison Iraheta will be filling in for Kris and he seems confident that she’ll do a great job. He tweeted: Allison “is filling in. And by filling in I mean @Allison4Realzzz is gonna rock Conan’s face off on Wednesday.”
Set your DVRs Iraheta fans!

My condolences to Kris and his family. I’m aware that others in pursuit of a career might not allow anything to keep them from a national television appearance, so the fact that he is putting family first says a lot about his character. As Allison has said, “He’s the real deal…” He exhibits an emotional honesty that comes out in his music, igniting a similar response in so many of us. Had been looking forward to seeing him again after he did so well on Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon. Hopefully, he will appear on The Tonight Show at a later date. Allison will indeed rock!
