What a great event this was for Z100 a couple of years ago with Nelly Furtado, Nick Lachey and Diana Degarmo.

The Gone Country show was great that Diana Degarmo starred in for CMT along with Bobby Brown and Carnie Wilson. Many funny scenes in the show.

Diana Degarmo has recently moved to Nashville and is recording a country album with Grammy Award Winner John Rich as her producer.

Heard that Diana Degarmo is writing a weekly column for US Magazine about American Idol. The column is outstanding.

  7. Jill says:

Diana Degarmo will be attending the CMT Music Award show on Monday night. Carrie Underwood will be performing at the event. It is hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus.

  8. Ruth says:

It was great to see Diana Degarmo at the CMT Music Awards and introduce Kenny Chesney. Her dress was great.

The show is encoring on CMT several times this week.

  9. Jeremy says:

Have seen in several recent articles that Diana DeGarmo has songs written by John Rich and Gretchen Wilson on her country album that she is recording.

Heard that there is also a possibility of Diana DeGarmo collaborating on a song with Dolly Parton for the album. This would be great since Dolly has always been an idol of Diana’s.

It would also be great if Diana DeGarmo could record a duet with James Otto for the album. Their voices would blend really well together and the song would be a definite hit single.

  10. Susan says:

Diana Degarmo was interview by OK Magazine on April 21, 2008. The article was great. For any new information on Diana please go to http://www.dianadegarmo.com

The interview is posted below from OK Magazine:

When she was growing up in Alabama, Diana DeGarmo told her mom that she never wanted to live outside of the South. And now, after a spell in New York and traveling the country, she says her little-girl instincts were right.

The American Idol runner-up says Broadway was a blast, but she couldn’t be happier with her new life in Nashville.

After finishing second to Fantasia Barrino in season three, Diana recorded an album in 2004, starred in Hairspray on Broadway and toured with Brooklyn: The Musical in 2007.

But just before getting down to recording an R’n'B/pop record late last year, the 20-year-old went to Nashville to appear on another reality show, Gone Country.

Diana says she felt “the buzz” there in Music City.

Anyway, she says, Nashville is the natural home for an Idol veteran. “American Idol brings out the all-American public, and all-American people love country music. It’s a no-brainer.”

Now Diana, who goes into the studio in the next fews days to record her new album, has a house in Nashville, as well as a home on 13-acres of Tennessee country just outside the city.

“I always told my mom if I didn’t live in Atlanta, I’d live in Nashville and here I am,” she said.

“I said I’d never live outside the South, and I lived in New York for a little while, but I’m glad to be back here.

“Nashville is a great town. It’s a wonderful community.”

She said that with all the great work offers that have fallen into her lap after Idol, “I couldn’t be happier — things are really good.” But, she added, “You never know when I just might pop back up on Broadway.”

Right now Diana says she loves to walk her “weenie dogs”, Dixie and Rosie, hang out at the Nascar track with Bo Bice and sing with her friends at the Buck Wild karaoke bar.

She can’t wait to celebrate her 21st birthday with her buddies in Vegas this summer, and their vacation to the Dollywood themepark, where Diana worked as a singer when she was ten.

With all that, Diana says, there’s one thing that definitely isn’t missing from her life: a boyfriend.

“I’m too young to settle down and I’m having way too much fun to settle down with one person right now.

“I’m having fun being a single, young girl in a big town.”

As for this years Idol, Diana says she hasn’t been watching enough to have a favorite (five years on, she’s only just able to hear to the theme music without getting a sudden burst of stage-nerves!).

But she thinks David Cook has a Daughtry-factor that should carry him a long way, and she admits to a soft-spot for David Archuleta, who, at 17, is a year older than she was on Idol.

“David Archuleta is holding it down for the young kids this season. He’s so, so talented and he’s adorable and he’s got an amazing voice. I think it’s a no-brainer that he’s going to get far.”

  11. Kathy says:

The lyrics are below for Diana Degarmo’s new single Right Back Where We Ended as seen on The Gone Country Show finale on CMT.

    Diana DeGarmo
    “Right Back Where We Ended”

Stop, I know you too well
Look around you can’t you tell
    It’s all the same
    Hauntingly familiar,
    Every time we get here
    It doesn’t change

    And it hurts babe
    You know it kills me
    When you say

    We can work it out
    We can try again
That’s what you keep telling me
But I don’t see it ever happening
Cause every time we try, it’s just a matter of time
Before we’re right here, right where we are tonight
Tell me why are we pretending
We’re not right back where we ended

    I’m done making excuses
    Cause using them
    Means lying to ourselves
    We (both) deserve much better
    Than being comfortably together
    And nothing else

    It’s not worth it
And that’s why it hurts bade
    When you say

    We can work it out
    We can try again
That’s what you keep telling me
But I don’t see it ever happening
Cause every time we try, it’s just a matter of time
Before we’re right here, right where we are tonight
Tell me why are we pretending
We’re not right back where we ended
    There’s no use in denying
That what we had is dying, oh I’m trying
That’s what you keep telling me
But I don’t see it ever happening
Cause every time we try, it’s just a matter of time
Before we’re right here, right where we are tonight
Tell me why are we pretending
We’re not right back where we ended

    But I just don’t believe
    We can work it out
    We can try again

  22. Derek says:

Definitely a great article in the Gainesville Times of Diana DeGarmo at the June Jam 2008. The article is below:

While still in her teens, Georgia’s own Diana DeGarmo shot into the spotlight after landing a spot in Hollywood on “American Idol.” She went on to finish second, next to Fantasia Barrino, in 2004.

And now just weeks away from her 21st birthday, DeGarmo lives in Nashville, Tenn., and is pursuing a career in country music.

“I love the music community (in Nashville) for me right now,” she said. “It’s been so welcoming and so much fun to be around, and I really love Nashville. I call it a little town with a big city heart. But Atlanta is my home and I will always feel a connection going back there.”

Fans back in her home state will have a chance to hear DeGarmo’s new brand of country music at the second annual June Jam this Saturday at the Brenau Amphitheater.

“I’m going to try and introduce a song or two,” DeGarmo said. “I’m definitely going to be singing some old songs, some new songs and just having a good time.”

The Snellville native also said she would be singing “Right Back Where We Ended,” a song she performed on CMT’s reality show “Gone Country.”

Since DeGarmo appeared on “American Idol” she said she has been busy advancing different aspects of her career.

She toured with the top 10 American Idols in 2004, she released a single called “Dreams,” which was the third best-selling single of that year and her album “Blue Skies” was released later that year.

Then in 2005 DeGarmo made her theatrical premiere as Maria in the San Jose, Calif., production of “West Side Story,” then went on to Broadway to play Penny Lou Pingleton in “Hairspray.”

Currently DeGarmo is working with producer John Rich, also of “Gone Country,” on a new country-inspired album.

“I’m up here recording and writing and working with Mr. John Rich … having a good time,” she said. “We are actually going to be getting in the studio in a week or two. I have some great new music that we are working on, and I just can’t wait for other people to hear it.

“I am putting all my time, money, effort, everything into living here and writing and recording and being who I am and that’s where I like to be.”

DeGarmo said country is a departure from her more recent work but that it’s kind of like going back to her roots.

“It’s country with a little bit of pop,” she said. “It’s kind of one of those things, I’ll never lose where I’ve been and where I’m going. I always take the influences from pop and singing R&B and all that … but I started off doing country music so it’s funny how life brings you full circle.”

DeGarmo will be headlining the second June Jam and local bands Peggie Hoskins and The Vertigo and The Allen Nivens Band will be opening for the Southern songstress.

“We are going to do about half originals of songs I’ve written and the other half some cover tunes,” Hoskins said. “It will be somewhere in the genre of blues, rock, funk. I’m going to do my song ‘Good Rain,’ which was used for the Atlanta Women’s Film Festival … and my song ‘On My Knees.’ And then Ivan Duke is also going to do a couple of his original songs and sit in with us. He’s a local country artist.”

This is one of two charity shows Hoskins is performing at this weekend. The other is a benefit in memory of her friend Alice Long, who passed away last month. That show takes place on Sunday at Doubleshots in Cumming.

The American Flyers, of Atlanta, will be closing out the charity event.

Proceeds will go to a charity chosen by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle as well as to Hall-Dawson Court Appointed Special Advocates.

“Our goal is $100,000,” said Mitch Farmer, representative of Keller Williams Realty in Gainesville, which is organizing the event. “We have 40-something tables committed to and, I hope, good weather.”

Last year, June Jam raised nearly $25,000 for local charities.

There also will be children’s activities provided by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County and the Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders will make an appearance.

Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic and beverages of their choice; Smokehouse Barbecue also will have plates for sale.

  23. Michelle says:

Diana DeGarmo will be at the Grand Opening of the Nightclub FUSE in Nashville on Sunday night July 13, 2008. Some of the invited celebrities include: Mario Lopez and Whitney Houston.

    Turn To Me – Lyrics
—Performed and Recorded by: Diana DeGarmo

Written by John Rich / Vicky McGehee / Gretchen Wilson

Baby that look on you face
    Seems to say it all
I’ve never seen you acting this way
It’s like you just hit a wall
So put your keys back on the table
Leave that bottle on the shelf
Please don’t look for comfort somewhere else

    Chorus
If you’re gonna turn to something
    Baby just turn to me
    I’m listening
    You can tell me anything
I know you want to find yourself
    An easy remedy
But if you’re gonna turn to something
    Baby just turn to me

    Crying and coming undone
Don’t make you less of a man
    You know everybody needs someone
    Every now and then
    Baby I know you’re hurting
You want to make it go away
But don’t let some brand of bourbon
    Take my place

    Repeat Chorus

    Bridge
Hey it’s ok if you want to fall apart
There ain’t no better place, then right here in my arms
