Original Australian Idol Calls Latest Season "Boring"
Australian Idol winner, Guy Sebastian, referred to this last season of the show as "boring." OUCH!!! Here’s what I read on an Australian news site:
In an uncharacteristic spray, Guy Sebastian claims he found the season "boring”, saying the fifth season of the talent quest was more about contestants "pushing their own agendas” than performing.
"There were a lot of people who were quite calculated in their use of the show and quite blatantly used it to get a platform for their careers,” Sebastian said.
"I think because of that, some of the essence of the show was lost.”
"There were some people who just … kept sticking to their same styles week in, week out, which is a bit boring and self-indulgent.”The Fro even went as far to suggest the Idol formula had lost its sheen.
You know, I have to agree that there was a little bit of self-indulgence going on and the "real" contestants (like my Ben McKenzie) got the boot. Any Aussie Idol fans out there? What do you think?

Apparently Guy explained personally to a few contestants how his words were twisted to make them sound like personal attacks on contestants.
But even if he’d been reported correctly, does this mean that anyone who’s appeared on a TV show has to love it forever?

I didn’t find this year’s Australian Idol boring at all. I thought the talent was pretty good this season. It was the judges who spoilt the whole show. Every year, their bias is so obvious, it’s sickening, and the treatment of a couple of the contestants this year was appalling. I think Australian Idol should be conducted biannually, rather than trot it out every year. The sheen has certainly come off its concept.
