Will you be tuning in to watch Paula Abdul’s new special on MTV?  It’s called RAH! Paula Abdul’s Cheerleading Bowl and it airs on Saturday, January 3rd at 12pm ET/PT.  The 90-minute special will, of course, feature lots of cute girls in cheerleading uniforms but it will also give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at this highly competitive sport.

In the end, five squads will be picked by Paula.  These teams will fly to New York to complete in the ultimate cheerleading competition.  Of the show, Paula said: “Rah is a project a lifetime in the making. I wanted to share one of my greatest passions, in a unique and special format that celebrates the true spirit, creativity and athleticism that is cheerleading.”

Along with Paula, who will be both a host and coach, the show will feature judges Hi-Hat (choreographer for Bring It On and Step Up 2: The Streets), Scott Bouchard (head coach for the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth) and Brenna Klinger (New Jersey Nets dancer).

The grand prize winners will be featured in American Cheerleader Magazine and a trip for their squad to attend MTV Spring Break 2009

I don’t know about you but I love cheerleading.  The girls not only need to be in tip-top shape but the squads need to be really creative in order to remain competitive.

Watch a SPOILER video after the jump featuring the top 2 squads!

  8. taylor says:

So cheerleading is my life. i wouldnt give it up for anything… but honestly this show makes cheerleading look like a joke and it pisses me off. The fact that competivtive cheerleaders work their butts off to prove to the world that cheerleading is a sport, and then this show is destroying all our hard work to prove it. Make a show of a REAL cheerleading competition and show the world how amazing cheerleading really is.

  9. miesha says:

Rah!!!! Watchin now. . . It isn’t all that

  10. Wade says:

UH Warriors did us proud! GO BOWS!!

  11. Tony says:

Hawaii was amazing, really enjoyed all the schools, Hawaii won the RAH, will any school never match up to their skills.

  12. Cindy Terrell says:

Really enjoyed the show, The Pine Bluff, Arkansas team should have been in the finals, montana girl knew she didn’t touch the flag and whoever reviewed it need bifocal glasses! Arkansas put on a SHOW! I enjoyed them, I didn’t know that HBCU’s had that kind of talent.

  13. amy brown says:

    love the show.
but does anybody know what the name of the theme song is!? or even just the artist?
    i cant find it anywhere!

  14. Rj says:

Ya this is a cool concept for a show and I’m glad they finally did it but I wish they had gotten some better teams to do it … Now I know that some wouldn’t be able to because of sports and competitions and what not but some of these teams were no name teams that could be beaten by most of the teams in my area. Also, it would have been nice to have a mean judge … or maybe even some real cheerleading judges that halfway know what they are talking about besides Scott. Ha sorry for the negativity was just excited and a little let down.

  15. Cheer! says:

I definately thought UAPB could’ve won and really deserved to be in the top two.

  16. LesTer. says:

The theme song is ‘Boombox’ and it’s sung by Paula Abdul herself…. a single from her comeback album!!!

    Cheer!

  17. Clinton Watkins says:

Hi Im that cheerleader from Arkansas that was on the show….. I would like to think everyone for tuning in on it….. We had a blast…
