Robbie Carrico On Wig Rumors and Britney Spears
American Idol cast off, Robbie Carrico, has hit back at rumors that he wears a wig. One source had told People that Robbie’s hair could “be some sort of weave. I don’t know. His long hair is impossible. There’s no way he could grow that hair.”
Still People reports that, in a conference call on Friday, Robbie said: “I’ve been growing this hair for a very long time. It’s ridiculous that [the media] have to come up with something like that.”
He also talked about all the questions regarding whether he was, in fact, an “authentic” rocker or just a poseur: “I’ve spent the past six years working my tail off in grungy bars and pulling our own trailer with our own equipment loading it in and out and living from a van sometimes, doing all the grunt work… Like I said before, this is me. You get what you see.”
He also commented on the rumors that he dated Britney Spears when his group “Boyz N Girls” opened for Spears back in 1999: “It wasn’t really that big of a deal. We went on a couple of dates but that’s pretty much it.”
Was she bizarre? “Not at all. She was always real down to earth. She’s a really good girl.”
