Simon Cowell Weighs in On Clive Davis
The feud between Kelly Clarkson and Clive Davis is pretty obvious with Kelly, in particular, being very vocal about their disagreements and falling out.
American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, hasn’t said much until now. With much speculation over his ability to continue on as a head honcho in the biz due to his age, it was interesting to hear what Simon had to say:
Simon told “Extra” - “Clive Davis at 80 is better than 99 percent of the people in the music business in their 20s, 30s and 40s…and he’s not 80….(Davis) is the boss of the record company, and it’s his job to advise.”

I do beleive that Simon has a point..The reason being is,over the years Clive has produced some of our legends such as: Aretha Franklin. However, he has to understand that this generation is unque, they demand to have something to say about the creative part of their music..He should be more open and listen to them.

Although Simon does have a point, it won’t be too long now before the Grim Reeper takes poor old Clive away, and a new, young, fresh-faced exec takes over, hopefully one who appreciates fresh talent and doesn’t just believein regergitating the same-ol’-same-ol’… you know, tired, been-done-before-by-less-than-talented-has-beens. I think that eventually what goes around comes around and the talent will start their own record labels. (Ooops, that has been done by Madonna, starting up her own “Maverick” label) and maybe they won’t have to beg to be original. Ask what Bono of U2 thinks about it.

Clive has produced a lot of big names, but along with the times, things are changing. You don’t have a whole lot of Aretha types out there anymore or who are trying to be like her or Mariah or whoever, they are trying to just be themselves. That is exactly what Kelly is trying to do and if they aren’t allowing her to do what she thinks will be good for her or wants to do, then she should go find some other people who will. The situation pretty much sounds like Lou Pearlman with Nsync and Backstreet Boys, Kelly is just a puppet and Clive is pulling the strings.
