Simon Has Love for Melinda, Advice for Britney
Everyone saw how disappointed Simon Cowell was when Melinda Doolittle was voted off of this season of American Idol. I guess he still has a warm place in his heart for her, as he should. He does, however, seem to dislike Britney Spears.
In an interview with Goof Morning America on Thursday, Simon tells Britney to “go home to your family.” I’d say that some good sound advice. He also says that Brit-Brit is still able to say her career because she is “still one of the most talked about pop stars on the planet. She has the X-factor because people want to write about her. She’s not conventional, she’s not normal.” He adds, though, that Britney “can’t handle the tension and the pressure.” His advice? “Lock the door, don’t go out with your stupid friends, have some home-cooked food, get a sense of reality, go lie in the garden, okay? And then say to yourself, ‘There’s more good in my life than bad. I’m still a rich, talented girl – now I want to get my career back on track.’ End of story.”

Simon went on to say that “Jordin was the most improved over the whole season. She didn’t start the best but midway through, this was the girl who suddenly got momentum.”
But…
“Melinda should have won,” he says. “She tried the hardest, was consistently the best and had the best voice. I think about it now – whether I should have endorsed her as much as [I did],” he says. “I think it was the right thing to do.”

Britney…what else can you say? The man has a point. She really needs to just stay at home for a while. It’s a bit sad, really.

Everything he said was right. He completely said it all about Britney. That girl needs some serious help. He was also right about Melinda. She probably should have won.

I think Simon was the most honest iin his opinions with American’ Idol, altho at times he may have been a bit harsh. However, I do believe with him, that Melinda Doolittle SHOULD have won!!! She truly was the best! I think next time, the public should not have a vote, but only the “JUDGES”! I hope simon is one of them! thank you.

i agree with donna and simon cowell. decision with regards to american idol winner should not depend on text vote alone but from the judges as well. they’re there to let everyone know whose the best singer in the competition and it was REALLY obvious that MELINDA DOOLITTLE’s the best among the contestants.

This season’s American Idol had a lot of good talent; however, the best was by far Melinda. She’s solid, consistent, and serious. You won’t see celebrity going to her head nor will you see her pull stunts ala Spears, Lohan, etc. She truly is an American Idol, regardless of her finish. I cannot wait for her albums, appearances, etc. to begin!

Good news for you Melinda Doolittle fans! She’s set to release her debut album titled, Coming Back to You on Hi-Fi Recordings in January 09. Produced by Grammy-nominated producer Mike Mangini (Joss Stone, Run DMC, The Jonas Brothers), Coming Back to You was recorded with a team of live musicians in Nashville and New York City.
The first single, “It’s Your Love” will be released to radio in October.
