Simon Puts Pressure on Ryan Seacrest
Ryan Seacrest will be hosting the Emmy Awards tomorrow night and a lot of people have been talking about whether he is going to be a good host (but don’t they every year?) or completely bomb.
His American Idol nemesis, Simon Cowell, is concerned that a bad performance on Ryan’s part could actually hurt Idol. Here’s what he said:
“We’re in this together, whether we like it or not,” the judge told FOX. “I hope Ryan has been practicing hard, because if he fails to impress at the Emmys then all of us at ‘Idol’ will go down with him. The integrity of the show is certainly at stake here.”
Ryan’s response?
“When I found out I was going to host, the first person I wanted to tell was Simon,” Seacrest said smugly. “I have never felt better — I know how painful this is going to be for him. This is one step prior to hell for Simon to have to go to the Emmys — that is how bad it is. He can’t not go … and when he does go he has to sit there and really not be featured, which is going to make him miserable.”
“I’m not the type of person that wants to create an uncomfortable or awkward moment,” he said. “I really believe that we’re there to celebrate the nominees. We’re there to have fun, have a laugh — I’m happy to poke fun at myself.”
Well, for what it is worth, I don’t think anything Ryan will do could be worse than the damage that was done this past season. Don’t you agree?
