Here is one glaring example of why American Idol should allow the use of instruments during auditions (Australian Idol and Canadian Idol allow it).

Jessica Sheppard, 21, of Bowmanville, ON wowed the judges when she auditioned for Canadian Idol. She doesn’t mess up, by the way. The judges just wanted her to get to a certain point in the song.
It’s bad quality but you can hear her just fine!

Here’s an admittedly poor quality video of Sam Romijn’s audition for this season of Canadian Idol. Why is he so great??? Because he is sooooo Canadian! I think he’s immensely talented and unique. Just great!

CMT will debut CMT Crossroads: Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire on June 24. The episode was filmed recently at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and features duet versions of their biggest hits, including McEntire’s “Why Haven’t I Heard From You” and “Fancy” and Clarkson’s “Because of You,” “Walkaway” and “Since You’ve Been Gone.” A studio version of “Because of You” will be included on McEntire’s duets album to be released on Sept. 18.

American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, has the new season of American Inventor to think about. With barely two weeks’ between the season finale of Idol and the beginning of Inventor, Simon is a very busy man. He’s also estimated to be worth $200 million. It’s June 5th which means that Canadian Idol returns to CTV!!! The season will start with 2 weeks of auditions followed by a two-night review “Top 200″ in week 3 which will, ultimately, leave us with this year’s Top 22.
There have been changes to this new season. The first change is the most interesting. This year, contestants will be allowed to audition and perform using instruments. The judges feel it will give them a better idea of what the contestants will sound like with music. Australian Idol has the same rules.
