Dreamgirls Fall, Replaced by Another Idol

If you’re going to get knocked off the #1 spot, I’m sure Jennifer Hudson would prefer it to be by another American Idol. The Dreamgirls soundtrack has finally fallen off the #1 spot, but was replaced by Season 5 American Idol contestant, Chris Daughtry’s album “Daughtry”.
Here’s a break down of the current American Idol placements on the Billboard Top 100 Album’s List

#1 – Chris Daughtry: “Daughtry”
#2 – Jennifer Hudson: “Dreamgirls Motion Picture Soundtrack
#9 – Carrie Underwood: “Some Hearts”
#50 – Taylor Hicks: “Taylor Hicks”
#51 – Kellie Pickler: “Small Town Girl”
#66 – Fantasia: “Fantasia”

Here’s another link that was sent to me that …read more

Download American Idol Music Now

Download American Idol Music Now

The Official American Idol website by Fox now allows you to download music from your favorite American Idol contestants and finalists. This seems to be the defacto place to get all your favorite Idolist songs in a single place.
I’m not sure what their requirement is for getting on the site. I don’t see the ability to get recordings from Ayla Brown, Kimberly Locke, Joshua Gracin or George Huff, whom I know have albums and recordings available. It’s probably some kind of label or contractual agreement that prevents that from happening.
It doesn’t seem to be up yet, but it looks like …read more

American Idol Season 5 Album Releases – Chris Daughtry

American Idol Season 5 Album Releases – Chris Daughtry

Chris just looks like the ultimate tough guy on the album cover don’t you think? He’s absolutely got a career ahead of him and I think it may end up being in a little bit more than music. November 21st will be the release date for Chris’ album.

Clay Aiken “Without You”

Clay Aiken “Without You”

I just heard this song on LAUNCHcast Radio on the Yahoo! Music Engine.
I liked it but I felt it was a little overproduced, but I feel that way about a lot of singers who are true vocalists. Sometimes their talent just gets buried in the instruments and production of it all.
I’m not sure I like Clay’s new look, but I may have to pick up this album anyway.

American Idol Season 5 Encores CD

American Idol Season 5 Encores CD

Still debating on whether or not to purchase Encores CD from this past season? Just in case it was price, Amazon now has the CD for less than $10. So this would be a great time to jump on it.
If you’re needing more information and would like to read a review, Dominick Evans has posted a less than glowing opinion of the album at Blogcritics.org. Personally, my favorite comment from his review is:
The icing on the cake was when my mother-in-law, a diehard American Idol fan and the nicest, most complimenting person I know who often disagrees with my musical …read more

Clay Aiken’s New Album on the way

Clay Aiken’s New Album on the way

Clay Aiken will be releasing a new album. He’s sticking with his forte and focusing on ballads and love songs. Definitely a good strategy for him. I’m not sure what’s up with his new look though. I’m not sure who’s in charge of his image makeover for this latest release, but they should absolve themselves and let the American Idol backstage people do it again. That was a good make-over.
Here’s the track list for the new album:

“Right Here Waiting,” originally recorded by Richard Marx
“When I See You Smile,” originally recorded by Bad English
“Without You,” originally recorded by Badfinger
“Lonely No More”
“Sorry …read more

Hey, hey it’s your birthday!

Just in case you didn’t have anything to celebrate today, the Big Dawg himself turns 50 today! I’m thinking he looks pretty darn good for 50 don’t you?
Happy Birthday Randy!

Season 5 CD Has Very Strong Sales

American Idol Season 5 Encores is doing very well in the market. At this point it’s almost sold 300,000 copies. It just may be the next time I’m in Target or somewhere else that sells CD’s, I may be picking it up. Looks like I’m a featherweight to bending to peer pressure.

Season 5 CD – To Buy, Or Not To Buy

Season 5 CD – To Buy, Or Not To Buy

I’m trying to decide if I really want to purchase the “Season 5 Encores CD” that’s available. Part of me would like to have it, but it just doesn’t have the songs I’d prefer to hear on the album. How do they choose the songs that make it? Listed below are the songs that are on it, then the songs I wish were on it from each singer.
What’s actually on the album

What About Love – Melissa
Superstition – Bucky
Every Woman – Mandisa
Wanted Dead or Alive – Chris
Father Figure – Ace
Takin’ It To The Street – Taylor
Signed, Sealed, Delivered – Lisa
Walkin’ After …read more

Chris Already Getting Offers

Chris Already Getting Offers

This article states that Chris Daughtry was contacted in the past by the group Fuel, to be their new frontman. Seems like after he performed their song, “Hemorrhage”, their song shot up to the Top 10 Download list on iTunes and the band contacted him at that point.
Guess discussions never really went anywhere. I’m sure the Idol producers wouldn’t let much action take place with Chris actively on the show. However, since Chris was suprisingly voted off on Tuesday night, Fuel’s bassist, Jeff Abercrombie stated the following on the TV show “Extra”.
‘Chris, if you are watching, we`ve talked about this …read more
