Allison Iraheta’s “Just Like You” Album Cover Revealed

Last season’s teen queen, Allison Iraheta, came just shy of making it to the finals but her debut album is still right on track.  She plans to release Just Like You on December 1, 2009 and the cover art has already been revealed.

Allison tends to have pinkish hair so I can understand the color scheme – girly but with an edge.  I will have to say, though, that with the colors and font, I thought of Avril Lavigne for just an instant.  Clearly, they are very different artists so I’m hoping they will keep that in mind, though, …read more

Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert on Walmart Soundcheck

Fans of Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert?  If so, you might want to check out their interview on the Walmart Soundcheck site starting November 1, 2009.

I’m not completely sure why none of them is performing but I am interested in seeing the full interview.  If you like this sort of thing, check out Carrie Underwood’s Walmart Soundcheck performances.  She’s great, of course!
In the meantime, check out this preview of Kris, Allison and Adam’s interview!

Allison Iraheta Sings “Barracuda” on the Tonight Show

I know this was a few days ago but I found a video of Allison Iraheta performing “Barracuda” on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.  She replaced American Idol winner, Kris Allen, who had to bow out of the appearance after a death in his family.
I’m a big fan of Heart so I’ve always loved “Barracuda” and I don’t know if anyone can sing it quite like they did but I think Allison does a great job.  She was already pretty great while she was on Idol but I feel like her vocals have matured even more since then.

Kris Allen Cancels Appearance on Tonight Show After Death in Family

Access Hollywood is reporting that Kris Allen’s grandmother has passed away and, while he mourns the loss, he has opted to bow out of a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.
If you follow the reigning American Idol on Twitter, you probably say this message last night: “I know I was supposed to do conan on wed, but there was a death in my family.”
In case you are worried that he might not be at some of the upcoming American Idols Live tour dates, don’t fret.  He hasn’t canceled any appearances yet.
If you were really looking forward to …read more

Allison Iraheta Also Signs With 19 Recordings

There was all sorts of news yesterday about the contracts given to this year’s American Idol finalists.  I wrote about Kris Allen and Adam Lambert and now I’m happy to report that Allison Iraheta has also been signed to 19 Records.
Like Kris, Allison has been licensed to Jive Records (Adam is with RCA).  All three albums are expected to drop some time this fall.  “I think I’m still in shock that this is happening — getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true!” Allison said in a statement.
Okay, so that …read more

Allison Iraheta at Regis and Kelly – Pictures

Last week’s eliminated American Idol contestant, Allison Iraheta, was spotted as she arrived for an appearance on Live! With Regis and Kelly.
I see she has chosen to keep those hair extensions she got put in (by Adam Lambert’s stylist, I believe?) during Rock Week.  I think they suit her but I don’t like her outfit.  Do you like her look (click on the images to enlarge).

Allison Iraheta on Good Day NY – Video

Allison Iraheta was on Good Day NY this morning where she gave a quick interview and I think, for the first time, it’s very clear that she’s just a regular young woman.  When she’s talking, she sounds just like any other teenage girl I know (a little awkward but sweet) but it’s a different story when she opens her mouth to sing.  She sang “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith and I think she did a great job.

American Idol Season 8 Top 4 Results Show

American Idol Season 8 Top 4 Results Show

The show started with a group performance of “School’s Out” which is one of my favorite songs to play on Guitar Hero: Legends of Rock.  It was pretty cool to see the contestants rock out like that.
Danny Gokey had me cracking up as he talked about how funny it was to watch his performance from last night.  Judge Simon Cowell had said his last note sounded like something from a horror movie and Danny had to agree.  He said that his own aunt had muted it and he heard that people were making ringtones.  Too funny!

American Idol 8 Top 4 Allison Iraheta “Cry Baby”

American Idol 8 Top 4 Allison Iraheta “Cry Baby”

Allison Iraheta chose to sing Janis Joplin’s classic hit “Cry Baby” and I wasn’t surprised.  Slash said that Allison is predisposed to do the “Joplin thing” and that she has a natural rock and roll swagger.  He said she needs to get past the fear and just bring it.  She got her hair done by Adam’s stylist and I think she looked pretty good.  She was feisty during the performance and even feistier during the judging.  I thought she did a decent job.
Randy said that Allison can sing her face off but he didn’t like the song choice for her.  …read more

American Idol 8 Top 5 Rat Pack Week Recap

American Idol 8 Top 5 Rat Pack Week Recap

For “Rat Pack Week” the mentor was Jamie Foxx.  They chose him because he has transcended the barriers in the industry by going from a television star, to winning an Academy Award (Ray) and a successful musician.

Kris Allen was the first to perform, singing “The Way You Look Tonight.”  I thought it was a great performance and Jamie Foxx had some great things to say about him.
Allison Iraheta sang “Someone To Watch Over Me” and I thought it was a very good performance even though judge, Simon Cowell, worried that her lack of confidence would land her in trouble.
