American Idol Season 8 Finale Recap
May 20, 2009 by Jeanne
Can you believe the eighth season of American Idol will be over tonight? It started with a great recap of the best judges moments from this year which, of course, included some clips of Kara DioGuardi. I never realized how much she said “sweetie!” Too funny!
After they checked in with the hometowns of finalists, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, the Top 13 performed Pink’s hit song “So What?” I am not sure why they picked this since I don’t think it works well as a group number. It sounds kind of cheesy to be honest. Kudos to Scott MacIntyre …read more
Adam and Kris React Backstage Last Night
May 20, 2009 by Jeanne
This year’s finalists, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, were interviewed backstage last night after their final performances on American Idol. Adam said he was overwhelmed and Kris said it was really great to be done with performing on that stage and being judged. Adam added that they are such different artists and really good friends so, in truth, they were both winners. I agree! Check it out:
American Idol 8 Adam Lambert “No Boundaries”
May 19, 2009 by Jeanne
Adam Lambert was first to sing the winner’s single “No Boundaries” which was co-written by Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi. The song is cheesy even with Adam’s finesse who seemed to show his first signs of pitch problems that I’ve really seen this season. It was a little painful, to be honest. I did not like it. He is doing the best he can with what he was given, I think.
Randy said that Adam can sing anything but that was not one of his favorite Adam performance and that it was a little pitchy in spots. Kara said that it was …read more
American Idol 8 Kris Allen “What’s Going On”
May 19, 2009 by Jeanne
Simon Fuller chose “What’s Going On” for Kris Allen and it he chose start it off with just the guitar and it was really nice. It’s one of my favorite Marvin Gaye songs and I’m happy with what he did with it.
Randy said that they’ve got themselves a real competition right now but felt that the song was a little light for him. Kara said that Kris has been true to himself since day one and she likes that Fuller picked a socially conscious song for someone like him. Paula said that Kris tore the song up and …read more
American Idol 8 Adam Lambert “A Change is Gonna Come”
May 19, 2009 by Jeanne
The second song that Adam Lambert performed was “A Change is Gonna Come” and I think it was a decent choice by creator, Simon Fuller, and he definitely performed it in his signature way. I couldn’t help but chuckle a little bit when he sang “my change is gonna come.” No further comment
Randy said that the song is an amazing R&B classic by Sam Cooke but Adam showed that he can sing his face off. Kara said that it might have been his best interpretation of a song so far in this competition. Paula said that it was …read more
American Idol 8 Hollywood Week – Day 4
February 11, 2009 by Jeanne
We saw the fourth day of Hollywood Week tonight on American Idol and, except for a couple things, I wasn’t really surprised. What did you think? With 72 contestants competing to be among this year’s finalists, it was good to see some people taking risks. The Idol hopefuls were allowed to use instruments during their performance (most didn’t). As usual, the performers were split into four rooms after another day of auditions and, of course, you could see how nervous they all were.
I had a good laugh when Tatiana Del Toro, one of the most emotional contestants I’ve ever seen …read more
American Idol Season 8 Hollywood Round – Part 2
February 5, 2009 by Jeanne
American Idol featured the second part of the Hollywood Round and it was an emotional episode.
Inside the auditorium, 107 contestants wait nervously for what comes next. They must take the stage as a group which means that they not only have to pick the right people, they need to be able to be flexible enough to work as a team. Some groups definitely look more promising than others.
There was some major drama with Katrina Darrell (a.k.a. Bikini Girl). She appeared to quit the group and even refused to get out of bed on the morning of the audition but …read more
American Idol 8 Kansas City Auditions
January 14, 2009 by Jeanne
Tonight, American Idol heads to Kansas City to see if they’ve got any talent. Come back for the live blog of tonight’s auditions!
Let the live blogging begin!!!
Over 11,000 people showed up in Kansas City to audition for American Idol this year. That’s incredible (Kansas City, Missouri – in case anyone was wondering which KC they were in)!
Jason Castro greeted Paula Abdul at the door since his brother will be auditioning.
Chelsea Marquardt premised her audition by saying how amazed people are when they hear this big, powerful voice come out of her little body and I thought there might be …read more
