With the recent outbreak of the H1N1 swine flu virus, other nations are being very cautious about who they let in to the country. The United States and  Canada have been hit the worst with the swine flu, so it’s only natural that  David Cook and David Archuleta, of season 7 on American Idol, were checked for the virus upon arriving in the Philippines on Saturday.

The results show from Disco Week on American Idol got underway with a group number choreographed by judge, Paula Abdul.  It felt like something from a dance show because they showed Paula training the contestants.  When the performance was over, Paula was presented with a bouquet of flowers.  It felt a little… strange (?) to me.  What did you think of that?

For today’s American Idol Christmas post, I decided to put up a video of David Archuleta singing “O Holy Night” instead of writing about an entire album.  He sang the Christmas song at “Holiday of Hope” tree-lighting ceremony in Hollywood.  The event benefited “One Heartland,” an organization that raises money to improve the lives of children, youth and families facing HIV/AIDS.  What a worthy cause! 

David did a great job!  I really love how natural his tone is but I would like to see him become a bit more comfortable as a performer (he’s getting better, I think!).

David Archuleta appeared on yesterday’s annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.  It’s always nice to see your favorites in the parade but, of course, you aren’t tuning in to see their performance since everyone has to lip-sync.  Still, he was convincing and he looked so cute with his red little nose (it must have been cold!) and hat/scarf.  Check it out:

I was over on the Entertainment Weekly site where I saw an article where American Idol season 7 winner, David Cook, talks about his new favorite YouTube video.  The vid, which I’ve included below, shows six girls who felt that David Archuleta should have won the competition.  I have to admit that, by the end of it, I was laughing pretty hard.  Wow… that’s all I’m going to say about this one…

David Archuleta’s debut CD (yeah, the WHOLE thing!) is now available for preview on AOL.  Make sure you head over and check it out before they take it down.  I have to say that, after listening to it, I can’t understand why it got such bad reviews.  He’s a young artist releasing his first album and I think this was a good start.
I know some people have been critical of "Crush" but I actually really like the song.  Sure, it’s not a musical masterpiece but I think it’s a decent first single for a teenager (hasn’t anyone heard the "music" …read more

Disney star, Miley Cyrus, and American Idol finalist, David Archuleta, will be teaming up to perform at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. 
While I love the parade (watching those giant balloons make their way down the street has become somewhat of a tradition for me), I’ve never found the performances too interesting.  I know that they have to lip sync, and I understand why, but it’s usually such a short snippit that we get to hear and they rarely do anything but stand on top of a float miming the words to their songs while they try not to …read more

American Idol season 7 runner-up, David Archuleta, performed his first official single “Crush” on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night and I have to say that the more I hear that song, the more I like it. 
I think he did a good job but I think that he started off a little nervous and then then music was a little too loud during the choruses which, I think, took away from the performance a little bit.  Also, was it in a lower key than normal?  The verses seemed a little huskier than on the recorded version.
