Randy Jackson Talks About Simon and New American Idol Season on Ellen
American Idol judge, Randy Jackson was on Ellen yesterday and the two had a great time joking around and making fun of Simon Cowell and discussing the changes to the new season of the show.
When he and Ellen started talking about romance, Randy said that Ryan Seacrest couldn’t be helped but that maybe they could do something to improve the love life of Simon Cowell. The first thing he told Ellen was that Simon needed to stop riding around on a jet-ski with no shirt on (ha ha!). They also had a good laugh when Randy suggested that Simon …read more
Randy and Simon Sympathize with Paris Hilton – WHAT???
May 11, 2007 by Jeanne
Apparently, American Idol judge Simon Cowell “feels sorry” for Paris Hilton and Randy Jackson thinks that the situation is “crazy” and that Paris is a “good girl.” What? Okay, last time I checked, getting punished for driving without a license after having it suspended for driving under the influence was not crazy. It’s actually pretty smart. Geez. This is one of the few times when the justice system does not fail the average citizens and now it’s suddenly “crazy.” Whatever.
Judges Sighted in Van Nuys California
January 28, 2007 by Jason
A reader (thank you Brian) recently sent this e-mail to me with a possible sighting of our American Idol judicial team and emcee.
I was on the tarmac ramp of Million Air at Van Nuys Airport today at 1pm. There was a private jet getting prepped with a camera guy and boom operator standing by. Three sedans pulled up. In the first one, a short woman with dark hair and a tall black guy got out (Paula and ??). The second a short white guy that looked 30ish (Ryan). Here’s the kicker, the third sedan pulled …read more
American Idol May Actually Know What They’re Doing
A really good story on Yahoo! News by the Associated Press about the credibility American Idol now has with it’s ongoing identification and promotion of singers that actually do have talent.
But as America’s most popular show prepares to kick off its sixth season Tuesday, it’s getting harder and harder for music snobs to deny its cultural import. “American Idol” has consistently churned out multiplatinum stars, Grammy-nominated artists and engaging celebrities (and, just maybe, an Oscar nominee in “Dreamgirls” star and “Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson).
“There were a lot of naysayers,” says Randy Jackson, who along with Abdul and Simon Cowell are …read more

We Are the World
Tonight at dinner my 6-year old son was singing a song they’re learning in school. He was astonished when my wife and I started singing the lyrics right along with him. The song was “We Are the World”, made famous in 1985 when it was written and sung to benefit famine relief in Africa.
I was looking online to see if I could play the original song for my son so he could hear it. That was until he said they played it for him on iTunes in class. iTunes in music class. We’ve come a long way from sandpaper blocks …read more

Happy Birthday Randy!
Stop the Schtick
The one thing every week that irritates me more than anything is the constant stabs and jabs at Simon and his comments. I was talking to a friend recently about this and was reminded that the target audience probably loves this stuff. That makes sense I guess, it’s just irritating.
Now there have been times where Simon’s opinions have been seemingly way off, on both sides. There have been times where I’ve though the contestants did great and he’s trashed their performance, and times when I thought it was horrible and he loved it. The key here is that he’s a …read more
