Apparently, American Idol judge Simon Cowell “feels sorry” for Paris Hilton and Randy Jackson thinks that the situation is “crazy” and that Paris is a “good girl.” What? Okay, last time I checked, getting punished for driving without a license after having it suspended for driving under the influence was not crazy. It’s actually pretty smart. Geez. This is one of the few times when the justice system does not fail the average citizens and now it’s suddenly “crazy.” Whatever.

I was on the tarmac ramp of Million Air at Van Nuys Airport today at 1pm. There was a private jet getting prepped with a camera guy and boom operator standing by. Three sedans pulled up. In the first one, a short woman with dark hair and a tall black guy got out (Paula and ??). The second a short white guy that looked 30ish (Ryan).

I was on the tarmac ramp of Million Air at Van Nuys Airport today at 1pm. There was a private jet getting prepped with a camera guy and boom operator standing by. Here’s the kicker, the third sedan pulled up and it was a white guy with dark hair, square head, and a tight black t-shirt (Simon) followed by a tall skinny white girl with dark hair (Simon’s girlfriend?). Didn’t see Randy unless he was the tall black guy, but he seemed too skinny and I don’t think anyone would want to ride with Paula. HAHA!! Perhaps this footage will be on a behind the scenes part of a DVD.

Interesting idea Brian, I wonder if anyone out there has details they can share in our comments. Let us know!

But as America’s most popular show prepares to kick off its sixth season Tuesday, it’s getting harder and harder for music snobs to deny its cultural import. “American Idol” has consistently churned out multiplatinum stars, Grammy-nominated artists and engaging celebrities (and, just maybe, an Oscar nominee in “Dreamgirls” star and “Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson).

“There were a lot of naysayers,” says Randy Jackson, who along with Abdul and Simon Cowell are the judging trifecta of “Idol.” “(But) it validates itself every season because somebody great comes out of it every season and does really well.”

After reading the article, you really get an idea for just how much of an impact American Idol has made on the music industry and pop culture in general. There have been quite a number of talented artists coming from the show, and not just the winners.

It will be interesting to see what Season 6 has in store for us, be sure and come back here, where I’ll be live blogging tomorrow’s night’s debut episode for Season 6.

Anyway, I was looking up more information on the song on Wikipedia to share with my son, when I noticed a new artist I never really thought before singing the song, but now is more than popular and well-known. Who could that be? Our very own Randy Jackson.

It’s a small world (I wonder if he helped sing that too)

The one thing every week that irritates me more than anything is the constant stabs and jabs at Simon and his comments. I was talking to a friend recently about this and was reminded that the target audience probably loves this stuff. That makes sense I guess, it’s just irritating.

Now there have been times where Simon’s opinions have been seemingly way off, on both sides. There have been times where I’ve though the contestants did great and he’s trashed their performance, and times when I thought it was horrible and he loved it. The key here is that he’s a professional, does this for a living and obviously knows what he’s talking about.

More so than any other judge, I believe Simon’s comments also provide more constructive feedback. We can always rely on Paula to mention wardrobe, appearance and the emotional connection to the audience. Then there’s Randy with the “hot one tonight”, “go dog!”, “you pulled it out” comments.

I’m really curious as to if all the stabs back and forth are scripted or at least encouraged by everyone for the “drama”, or if it’s really spiteful. If it’s the latter, it surprises me that any of the judges would agree to or be invited back for subsequent seasons. What do you think?
