Fantasia Gets New VH1 Television Show

According to The Hollywood Reporter, former American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino will be starring in a new unscripted series on VH1. The show, which is currently planned to premiere in early 2010, will chronicle her life as a recording artist and single mother.

They decided to do the show based on the fact that “Fantasia has one of the most fascinating stories in show business” and I can see what they mean. I hope this works out for her and doesn’t end up adding stress to her life but, with the economy the way it is, I can’t imagine turning down an offer to do a television show.

When I watch programs like Jon & Kate Plus Eight and even American Chopper, I always wonder how having cameras following you around affects your real life. Do your relationships become fake? Do you lose the intimacy of those private moments?

What do you think? Would you do a reality TV show and, more importantly, will you watch Fantasia’s new show?

Celebrity Duets by Simon Cowell

Simon’s got another reality show on TV tonight, “Celebrity Duets“.

What is the deal with this onslaught of TV shows combining celebrities with professionals and seeing how they do? This is just too much.

Paula Abdul at the Emmy’s

Paula was looking pretty good as she arrived for the Primetime Emmy Awards. Hollywood’s Best has lots of photos (forum registration required) and comments from some forum members stating she was drunk.

Of course it’s a rumor, but she’s definitely seemed a little medicated on a few of the American Idol airings. Wonder what’s up. I wonder if the pressure of working with Simon is just getting to be too much for her. Do you think all three judges are going to stay on long-term for the show? I can’t imagine them hanging with it forever, might be interested to get some fresh new blood in there though. Simon will of course stay forever, but please, whatever you do Simon, DO NOT put David Hasselhoff in there with you.

Oh well, as other forum commenters stated, she’s still looking good, that’s for sure.

American Idols on Fear Factor

Tonight’s episode of Fear Factor with Joe Rogan was an interesting one. They’ve got contestant teams from the various reality TV shows competing against one another. One of the teams consists of Anthony Federov from last season’s American Idol when Carrie Underwood won. Anthony’s partner was Carmen Rasmusen from

This “reality” special will be going on all week. Anthony and Carmen are still in it so be sure and check them out.

It’s already been very interesting because Jonny “Fairplay” from Survivor has been playing his normal mind games and totally messed with two contestants from The Amazing Race, Jonathan Baker and Victoria Fuller. If you don’t remember their names, maybe you’ll remember them because they were the team who completely faught with each other the whole time (which they continued to do in Fear Factor). Anyway, Fairplay got in Victoria’s head so much that when they gave up on the challenge and got back to the group, Victoria punched Jonny. Then Joe Rogan was seriously reprimanding her for assaulting Jonny Fairplay, and her husband Jonathan and Joe began to fight. Very interesting, so be sure and stay tuned and see how far the Idols go.
