Taylor Hicks Performs “What’s Right is Right” on Ellen

Did you see Taylor Hicks on Ellen earlier this week?  Sorry I didn’t get it up sooner but better late than never, right?  He sang “What’s Right is Right” which is the first single from his new album The Distance.  Watch the performance and tell me what you think!

I thought he did a really good job and he looked AMAZING!  I really hope this album does well for him because he deserves it and I feel like he’s finally found some music worthy of his talent.  Have you heard the album?  If so, did you like it?

American Idol 6: Week 2 “Guys Night”

Ryan starts off the show by congratulating Jennifer Hudson for her Oscar, American Idol’s first! Jeff Foxworthy is in the audience tonight. Is it country night? After seeing Sanjaya Malakar’s outfit, I’m putting my money down on him singing a Michael Jackson song. We’re quickly reducing the field of contestants to 6. The lowest two vote getters will be going home, leaving us with eight. Tonight’s show has the contestants dedicating their song to the people that inspire them.

Dreamgirls Fall, Replaced by Another Idol

If you’re going to get knocked off the #1 spot, I’m sure Jennifer Hudson would prefer it to be by another American Idol. The Dreamgirls soundtrack has finally fallen off the #1 spot, but was replaced by Season 5 American Idol contestant, Chris Daughtry’s album “Daughtry”.
Here’s a break down of the current American Idol placements on the Billboard Top 100 Album’s List

#1 – Chris Daughtry: “Daughtry”
#2 – Jennifer Hudson: “Dreamgirls Motion Picture Soundtrack
#9 – Carrie Underwood: “Some Hearts”
#50 – Taylor Hicks: “Taylor Hicks”
#51 – Kellie Pickler: “Small Town Girl”
#66 – Fantasia: “Fantasia”

Here’s another link that was sent to me that …read more

American Idol Season 6 Premiere

American Idol Season 6 Premiere

Just now getting started on the premiere. DON’T YOU LOVE DVR! Had to wait for my wife who had a meeting tonight, not sure who’s brilliant idea it was to schedule something tonight. Whomever it was, they were obviously not Idol Stalkers.
The show started with a great introduction to where we’ve come so far and how great past idols are doing like Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and of course Taylor Hicks.
The auditions started off in the hometown of last season’s finale closer, Prince, which would put us in Minneapolis. One of the guest judges for the Minneapolis …read more

Taylor Hicks Performs for 2007 FedEx Orange Bowl

Taylor Hicks, along with Gladys Knight, performed for the half-time show of the 2007 FedEx Orange Bowl.
It seemed there were some microphone/sound problems initially, as Taylor was singing and you couldn’t hear anything. Good to know he’s not lip-synching though.
He sang “Runaround”, which I’m really starting to enjoy more and more every time I hear it.

Daughtry on AOL Sessions as Well

After listening to all of the songs available from Taylor Hicks on the AOL Sessions website, I also discovered that fellow American Idol, Chris Daughtry also has some selections available. I really thought Chris would win Season 5 of American Idol, but it just didn’t happen. I’m happy Taylor Hicks won, but surprised that more of the country didn’t vote and choose Chris Daughtry over Taylor in the end. I thought it would be Taylor, Katharine and Chris in the Top 3.
Here are the different videos that are available on the AOL Music Sessions site

Get to Know Taylor – Buy His CD

Taylor Hicks says that his self-titled album was an appropriate one to bear his name, the album really is a compilation of things that make Taylor who he is.
When Taylor Hicks filmed a memorable Sessions performance recently, the ‘American Idol’ told AOL Music that his just-released album is justifiably self-titled. “This album, for me, is a representation of who I am, and it’s also as many styles as I have in me,” he says. “I really was able to use the songs and show examples of each side of my musicality.”

Get Yourself an Idol for Christmas

Do you have a couple hundred grand just laying around this holiday season? No? How about a couple of thousand? If so you can get yourself a real live American Idol for your own family Christmas party, or maybe something a little larger.
For the right price, “American Idol” castoffs, finalists and even champs will pay a visit to your wedding, Sweet 16 or bar mitzvah.
“The average going rate for an ‘American Idol’ finalist can be as little as $15,000 or as much as $150,000,” says a source familiar with the business of brokering singers, bands and other talent for corporate …read more
