Taylor Hicks Gets Caught Reading!
Ha, ha! I thought it was a funny title too but that’s the slogan for this particular project that Taylor Hicks is associated with - “Alabama Gets Caught Reading.”
A great Taylor fan sent me the following article:
Nine notable native Alabamians were “caught reading” for this year’s “Alabama Gets Caught Reading” poster series being distributed throughout the state by the Alabama Center for the Book at Auburn University. Among the celebrities caught reading are American Idol Taylor Hicks, Pulitzer-Prize winner Cynthia Tucker, Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson and Heroes actor Ashley Crow.
More than 45,000 posters will be distributed by the Alabama Center for the Book to every school, library and bookstore in the state, as well as literacy centers and other locations serving children and young people.

Other well-known Alabamians featured on the posters are Alabama First Lady Patsy Riley, the Gees Bend Quilters, Olympic silver-medalist Coby Miller, Auburn University mascot Aubie and University of Alabama mascot Big Al.
The 2007-08 poster series is the second produced by the Alabama Center for the Book. The project is supported by the Alabama Public Library Service through the Institute of Museum and Library Services and by the Alabama Power Foundation. It received the prestigious Boorstin Award from the Library of Congress and was selected as a national model by the Association for American Publishers for reading promotion.
The Alabama Center for the Book, the state affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, is located in the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University. It sponsors the annual Alabama Book Festival and the statewide River of Words and Letters about Literature contests, as well as This Goodly Land: Alabama’s Literary Landscape, an online literary map of the state.

That is tipical of Taylor Hicks reading Ray Charles. That is a great picture. You are like a Ray Charles to me. I think you are a great guy and a performer. I saw you in New Jersey and in Staten Island. I am looking forward to many more concerts. YOUR BIG FAN LISA
