Taylor Hicks Gets Hot and Heavy!
So, it looks like Taylor Hicks decided to get trim and fit because he has shed his doughboy body. The American Idol champ was recently spotted with a cute blonde on the beach. Very nice…

GERRI!!!!! I was waiting for someone to say something. I hope A’kyra jumps in here. When the song started, I was like “oh, he’s doing a Ray Charles tune” and then it turned into something else. I had forgotten about the Marvin Gaye song. Nice catch!!!

had to add this quote I found on Michael Moore’s web site, I agree with this quote. I believe that it helps to show how far we have gone in support of crappy art forms in this country.”
There are so many bad, awful films now and less and less people are going to the movies. Many who run Hollywood believe that the American people are too stupid to enjoy a film that respects their intelligence. “

Hahaha I’m here I’m here! :)
Did we really expect anything less?!? It’s almost an exact match of those songs! But if you have not noticed, that’s what Soul Patrol is really good at. He is a great impersonator which when mixed his vocal ability he becomes the next level kareoke performer. He was one of those contestants,to me, that sounded like the person who’s song he was singing. He did it well-yes but that’s what he’s good at. If you remember this season, Stephanie was the same way. She sounded like the person who’s song she was singing. She sang a Beyonce song and she sounded just like her. And I remember the judges telling her to stop doing that. Yet she, like Taylor is very good at it b/c they have great vocals.
See AI messed up when they came to Kelly with that B.S. of singing other peoples songs at this stage in her career, when there are artists like Taylor Hicks (sorry to his fans) that would probably jump at the chance.
All of this is all “politics” and in the end is all about the money. It’s sad b/c some folks just don’t know any better.
I hope Jordin is smart and listens to her parents and doesn’t get caught up in all of Ai’s crap. Once she gets away from them then she can do her own thing…but ugh…good luck to her…for all it’s worth..Sanjaya should have won…lol..j/k…but with all the drawbacks of being the winner you kind of feel bad for the winner so voting for the worst may not be that bad…lol….cause you know how big Jordin could have blown up if like P Diddy signed her or RCA, or anyone other than AI!!!! Geez! Someone like Sajaya will do anything for that superficial fame. LOL…doesn’t he sound like he’s still going through puberty when he talks??? Gosh he’s strange!
All in all I really didn’t expect anything less than that from Taylor to be honest. :( :)
BTW Jeanne I was blown away by what I read on that Chosen Songwriters blog…I don’t know how I missed that one but….GEEEESHH!!! I do have a few things to say about that one so please email me.
Ta-ta for now :)

Is it just me, or did Taylor Hicks seem like he really wasn’t feeling it when he was singing on the finals night? He just didn’t seem happy to be there or inot his performance. I guess you can’t always judge by what you hear, and since I couldn’t see his face,
I may be way out there.

If you knew anything about Taylor, he has permission to use those two riffs. He gives credits on his cd for using them.

Are you freaking kidding me… hellooo… artists sing covers all the time, you might consider them rip offs but I’ve heard great bands do great covers, sometimes better than the originals, also rap music continually blends old songs into new. Actually I think using the two melodies together with new lyrics was genius. It was intended that way and credit was give to the original artists.. too bad Taylor Hicks didn’t write the song. I love it!!!

Whoa Nelly! It seems we have hit and yet another nerve over here!
Can we please at least read the comments before we start with the attitudes??!!!
Ok first of all should we feel honored to be in the presence of someone who “really knows” Taylor as I take you do…let’s be mature and not start slinging stuff around.
I don’t think anyone here said anything bad about Taylor. Did we say unpleasant things about his representatives, American Idol? YES we did. We realy can’t blame Taylor for his single. That is the type of singer that he is. He’s great at impersonating other singers and that’s great I love to watch him twitch around the stage, he’s an awesome performer but let’s be real do you really think Taylor could have had the same success as Kelly did with her song “Since You Been Gone”? Can you actually say Taylor Hicks could have come out with that song in that way?…I don’t think so….but you might and that’s great…there’s nothing wrong with that
But whatever let’s move on. You said Taylor gave credit on his cd….hellooo??? He has to…it’s the law! Do you think he gave the credit or was it his publicist??? Hellooo…they don’t make their own statements anymore…lol…You make it seem as if you “Know” Taylor so why don’t you enlighten us instead of scolding us.
So we don’t know Taylor, why don’t you tell us something about him that you know. And please spare us the obvious…anyone can look at the cd and see the obvious…so tell us something good, give us some juice :)
Heaven knows…we all know that, I think you missed the point…but welcome it’s great having you :)
Jeanne, I feel a “sidebar” comment coming…hmmmm

YIKES!!!! Whoa guys. Here’s the thing - a cover is basically a remake of a song, hopefully done with the artist’s “fresh take” on it. This isn’t a cover.
But…
I never said it was bad. I was just surprised, that’s all. Lots of artists have done it (yes, Puff Daddy, I mean P Diddy, I mean Diddy, we are talking to you).
Rainee, he did seem a little lackluster compared to the Taylor we know and love.
A’kyra, I do know what you mean about Taylor and Stephanie. She was a contestant I disliked early on in the competition for that exact reason. I can’t hate Taylor, though.
Now I think I feel a “sidebar” comment coming on myself, lol.

Hellooooo…. People who say they “know” Taylor DO know a lot about him. There are many websites you can log on to and listen o Taylor in his pre-idol years. You should listen to some of it and you would get a better idea of him as a singer/performer. Many of us have seen him perform in bars and let me tell you - he’s a whole different Taylor. Woo-hoo!!!! Have you heard “Try a Little Tenderness” by Otis? Taylor changed that one a bit on Idol, don’t you think? As far as feeling like we know him; there’s a lot of information around about the type of person Taylor is. Are you aware of how involved he is with a charity called KidOne, for instance? Because of him we SP’ers have donated to that charity, with various fundraising projects, and raised almost 37,000 at last count. I talked to Taylor about KidOne and other kid’s projects like children’s hospitals and he’s very appreciative. He has a blog to keep his fans informed on what’s happening with his tour as well as other things he’s been doing. I can go on and on but I think you get the idea. You either “get” Taylor or you don’t but the Soul Patrol gets him and has from the first time he opened his mouth at the auditions. The more we know about him the more we love him!
Go to Taylormadesoul and check out the music.

Just found this site…LOVE IT! I’m a huge Taylor fan and I think his womp style is just what listeners need. Something new… new instrumentation and a new funk beat.
I think Taylor is HOTT! Move over blonde beach bum girl… here I come!
Anyways, really appreciate all of your opinions on here as they are very intelligent comments.
But hey, did you hear Katharine’s CD??? Talk about awful! only good song is Over It. Elliot’s, however, is very very good. How come Taylor’s didn’t get more publicity?

PrincessTrimm - tell me why Kat’s CD is awful. I gotta admit that I have not heard all of it. I am really disappointed that Taylor’s CD did not get more coverage.

Kat’s CD was just… immature. Her lyrics and songs were about really dumb things, especially the song, “Open Toes” which is about open toe shoes. I was expecting alot more from her, since she was one of my favorites. But her CD is campy-sounding. I couldn’t imagine any other song of hers being played on the radio, only “Over It.”
Also, her voice is SO much better than the songs that were written for her. She needs more lyrical songs with better melodic lines to sing… not R & B-attempt-at-clubbin’-music with immature and trite lyrics.
You know what I mean? :)

question: Does anyone one scream at the TV when the cd for “Now 25″ comes on? I mean… there’s Elliot, Carie, Chris….. and no Taylor….I can’t take it…. I just can’t take IT !!!

I agree that there should be more info on Taylor. I have been trying to get my husband (a huge fan) tickets for our anniversary, however, we have not seen any tours scheduled for him in San Diego. We loved his style, his passion and his appeal. Why can’t we see more press, news, Entertainment Tonight, etc. with Taylor?????
