Taylor Hicks’ “Heart Full of Soul”
Add writing to Taylor Hick’s repertoire media activities since joining the contestants for last season’s American Idol. Taylor received a $750,000 advance from Random House to write a book about his experiences from birth to now.
I can say that Taylor has been my favorite winner of the show by far. I hope he maintains his down to earth personality and demeanor with all the publicity and media attention.
Bob Sassone at TV Squad doesn’t seem to be too excited about the book. I don’t expect to see him lined up at Border’s for the autograph session next Spring when the book is released.
Is there anything about Hicks that we don’t already know from all of the interviews he’s given and all of the family and behind the scenes stuff we’ve seen on Idol?
This article in People gives even more information about the deal, and more interesting to me is that the Alabama Department of Tourism and Travel is taking a step to market their American Idol successes:
Rounding out Hicks’s multimedia presence, the singer – already a pitchman in Ford TV commercials – will appear alongside fellow Idols from Alabama Ruben Studdard (another winner) and Bo Bice (a finalist) on a new billboard from the state’s Bureau of Tourism and Travel.
The billboards will feature photos of the three and the message, “Where America finds its voice. Alabama,” the Associated Press reports.

Reading Taylor’s book is like having him in the room telling you his story, the book is in his voice, and it’s seamless. He gives you insights into what really happened during Season 5, and there is much more to him than we knew just from watching AI. He has turned down movie deals, he’s … well, you should read the book. You’ll love it.
