Taylor Hicks Joins Broadway Cast of Grease

May 16, 2008 by Jeanne

20080503_zaf_l61_151.jpg American Idol winner, Taylor Hicks, has been cast in Grease on Broadway.  He will join the revival, in which he will be playing the “Teen Angel,” on June 6, 2008.  Taylor already has plans for his performance of “Beauty School Dropout.”

“It’s a big number, and, you know, I’ve made some pretty grand entrances before,” Hicks told The Associated Press on Thursday. “And this one is probably the grandest entrance I’ve had in my career.”

This is pretty exciting!  I know that many of you have enjoyed going to Broadway shows to see Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino and Diana DeGarmo among others.

Not only is Taylor prepping for this role but he’s also planning to finish up his second album this summer: “I’ve had the creative freedom and the time to write some of the best music that I’ve ever written in my whole life. … The options are unlimited and there has been some great interest now that I’m a free agent, so to speak,” he said.

I’ve just got two words to say: Sooooul Patroooool!!!!!

This is a collage that Jaxnative did of Taylor last summer. Taylor fans seem to like it a lot. I’m sure he is riding high right now with a new album, lots of independence and a new gig.

Hey, that’s the image she let us use in the Taylor Hicks 2008 calendar we created for Kid One. It was awesome! Everyone that saw it was really impressed. She did a great job! Thanks for sharing!

Oh, and I’m also very happy for Taylor’s new twist. He’ll be in very good company. Chubby Checker and Al Jarreau also played this part! How exciting!
