This Week in American Idol Album Sales

Chris Daughtry continues to reign supreme, jumping up two spots on the charts. He moved 49,000 units bringing total sales up to 2.36 million.
Carrie Underwood comes in second with 44,000 sold brining her total sales up to a whopping 5.33 milion total,
Bucky Covington continues to do well, selling 23,000 copies of his album this week, bringing the total to 84,000 after almost 3 weeks.
Elliott Yamin sold a respectable 9,100 units on an independent label and, to date, has sold 173,000 in total.
Kellie Pickler moved 6,400 units, bringing her total to 512,000.
Fantasia’s album rebounded a bit and moved 5,800 units (357,000 in total) which is an 18% increase! Wow.
Katharine McPhee sold 5,600 units bringing the total to 311,000 total. Album sales dropped 19% and basically dropped off of the chart.
Katharine’s in good company, however, since some other former Idols are off the chart as well.
Taylor Hicks sold 1,700 units, down from 2,000 last week for a total of 673,000.
Ruben Studdard sold 1,000 (down from 1,200) for a total of 223,000.
Clay Aiken sold 600 (same as the last couple of weeks) and is at 509,000.
Kelly Clarkson sold 5,900 which is an improvement over last week’s 4,900. The single, “Never Again” is still quite new so the future still looks pretty bright. Since it’s so new, I thought it deserved the little picture here to give it a little extra attention. :)

LOL. Gerri, I knew you were going to say something like that! I think he’s doing alright as a country artist. I must admit, however, that I was surprised too. I plan to listen to some of his songs this week - I ended up being too busy this past week. I’ll let you know if it is any good.

Hmmmm…. it is actually kinda tough to get info on this album! All I can tell you for now, is that his album peaked at #80 on Billboard. If anyone has more info, let me know!

Bucky’s album is surprisingly not bad. It is actually perfect for Country Music right now. Elliots new song is good too. I was not a huge fan of either of these contestants but I’m pleasantly surprised at thier post idol ventures. Any news on Paris’s new album and its sales? I watched some videos on youtube of her new song and I can’t say that I feel as warming about her efforts as some of the other contestants.

Ms. beachgirl,
You like country rock, alternative music where screaming and yelling are considered a form of “singing”. Taylor Hicks and Fantasia are soulful singers that actually…sings!
