Totally Uncool Radio Interview with Katharine McPhee
Thanks to Idol Stalker visitor, OMG KAT FAN, I’ve been directed to a radio interview with American Idol runner-up, Katharine McPhee. It is not cool and OMG Kat Fan wanted everyone to write in to the DC-based radio station Hot 99.5 and complain. It wasn’t even funny - it was just tasteless. If you are going to make fun of someone, at least make it hilarious. Sheesh! I am amazed that Katharine actually stayed on the phone - it sounded like she had already had a bad day and was tired.

That was pretty bad. The intern doing the interview seemed really inexperienced and it is hard to understand how anyone could have given her the interview assignment. For heaven’s sake, she didn’t even find out why Katharine was in DC! Even if Katharine had okayed asking the personal stuff, the interviewer handled it like an interrogation. She didn’t even break the ice. Skilled interviewers, like Romeo of Z100, know how to put the person at ease and have a really interesting interview with personal information given voluntarily. I can tell Katharine was uncomfortable with this interview as she usually turns simple questions into something really interesting. I see they added a separate podcast trying to explain what happened and it seems, make a joke of it. In my opinion the whole thing was pretty tasteless. Katharine deserves an appology.

This stupid witch who drop out of school by the way needs to learn when to hang up or walk away when she doesn’t like there questions.
Ever notice Kelly Clarkson never gets any personal questions ask about her than again she didn’t xxxx Simon’s xxxx to get on idol like Kat did.

Don’t blame the intern. The very fact that they had an intern do the interview was a deliberate insult. She was just doing what she was told to do and trying to please her bosses. Blame Kane, the ringleader of this ambush interview, he set her up for it.

Maybe if the stuck up B**** had kept up her end of the interview bargain. She was supposed to be live and her people kept canceling and rescheduling(sp). Then they gave some lame excuse that her plane was delayed and that was a lie, then not even two hours later she was in Baltimore giving a live interview on the radio there.

Agree with CB… What ever happened to honoring your word, especially when Katherine M is just B rated? Katherine, when your music sucks remember to be nice to the radio stations. They can make you or break you. I don’t feel bad the intern did the interview. Kane was sending her a message that he doesn’t want his time waste so why not give it to the intern. Kat and her management screwed up not Hot 99.5. Anyway thing that happened during the interview was brought on by her. Kat “make your bed, suffer in it!”

It was totally obvious to anyone listening to the interview that the whole thing was a prank. Ali had only done one interview before and they had even stated on the show that she was told to make the interview awkward. It was a hilarious prank. McPhee should realize that being a celebrity means that you are going to be put in situations that are uncomfortable and awkward sometimes. This is even more the case when you are a B-lister.

Like Pandy said, awkward situations, especially in interviews are gonna happen. That’s when your true colors show, either you’re gonna act stuck up and be rude about it, or have some class, and laugh at yourself and move on.

I see this is the usual cess pool of haters that follow Katharine everywhere. Or the one hater that makes multiple posts?
1 Katharine does not decide where she is going to appear or change her appearances at the last minute her team does that. She is blameless.
2 Kane decided to act like a child and insult katharine by first of all having his intern do the interview and second by having her ask personal questions like “is it difficult being faithful to your bf when you are touring.” Very classy.
3 Katharine has only just released the second of four planned singles from her album, which is already gold, so calling her career a flop is premature.
4 Katharine is going to go on to be the greatest singer and acress of generation.
5 Kane and all of Katharines haters are just never going to grow up.

Of course it’s not McPhee’s fault if she’s a no show or not, but she is just as bad as those lying managers and agents when she lies about being in DC and that she had a late flight. I guess that’s ok and classy.
As far as the DJ and the intern not being classy and having respect, again they’re DJ’s and aren’t really in position to need class; and to get respect, you got to earn it.
And the whole thing about her gold album, WOW. So far it’s sold 336 thousand units in six months. Paris Hilton sold 621 thousand units in that amount of time. So calling her the next big star? We have to wait and see on that one.

CB - we have no idea why her team cancelled her inteview. Saying it was a flight delay is a little white lie that is probably better than saying “we got a better offer from a bigger radio station” or whatever the reason is. Especially on a live radio interview.
DJs not required to have class? Why not? Everyone should aspire to acting with class.
If respect is earned then I don’t have any for Kane.
Katharine’s sales have been a disapointment. I guess if she had gone with a CD of covers of her American Idol catalog and put it out for the Thanksgiving and Christmas sales she would be double platinum by now too.
But she chose to take a whole different route and is basically starting from scratch, she bypassed all the sales she would have got from her American Idol fame. She is having to work just as hard as any other new recording artist.
Yes, we will see how her career goes.

Have you actually heard the interview? Click on my link. Where is Katharine stuck up or rude? She did move on. Has she even commented about this since? You should get your facts straight.

Yeah, I did hear it without the commentary. The way she kept dodging out of the questions was in a bitchy, “I’m better than you” way. Yeah, the questions are rude, I’m not saying they aren’t, I’m just saying she had what was coming to her. She shouldn’t be pissed at a station, she should be mad with her people for making her do the interview.
A radio DJ on a hip hop/ top 40 station isn’t a “superstar/celebrity” on the rise, so no, they aren’t required to have class. But when you are a “superstar/celebrity” on the rise, you should.
Her daddy overpays her team, and they went balls to the wall creating this whole sensation about this lame ass interview. Yeah, it was crappy, and the questions were uncalled for, but hey, get over it. Her camp is continuing to make this a bigger deal than it ever was.
