We’ve Gotten Rid of Haley. What Should Happen to Sanjaya??? Take the Poll

by Jeanne on April 14th, 2007

sanjaya-malakar-

I don’t know what to say anymore. Seriously. I’ve tried to be fair - diplomatic even, at the expense of some of my sanity. I think that part of the reason for it was that, with the exception of Gina Glocksen, I’ve more or less agreed with the progression of the show. Now, with Haley Scarnato gone, I am becoming more uneasy. When there were other people who, on some level, were as “bad” as Sanjaya, I got a bit of a laugh out of the situation. But when I heard people talking about him possibly beating out Blake Lewis and Melinda Doolittle, I started to sweat. Could that happen???? Could it really, really happen? With Sanjaya’s marginally improved performance last week, I think it could. As one writer put it, “the bad singers are more dynamic and intriguing than the good singers.” I have to agree.

Melinda has become so predictable, so methodical, so… boring. It reminds me of when, after the holidays, you have that 1st day of leftovers and it’s still exciting to be eating this fantastic food and then, by the 5th day, you may still love turkey and stuffing, but without any extra pizzazz, it loses it’s appeal.

So, here’s my poll - Do you think that Sanjaya will win? I’m not asking if you think he should win, but I’m wondering how many people think this is just a runaway train that cannot be stopped.

I think a lot of people are thinking like Paris. You all remember the 17 year old last season. Suppostly she called a radio station this vowing to screw of the results. Why? your guess is as good as mind.Nonetheless, I can resist taking a stab at a motive. Simon for one reason.I believe because he made such a bad call on the Hudson girl, they want to teach him a lession, American style

I’m pulling for Blake. We’ll see. I thought America was ready for Taylor… I think I was wrong. Too bad.

I think every country must have a Sanjaya at some point in the proceedings. Let’s face it, the formula does get boring, the grooming of the candidates does get tedious.

When it happened on Deutschland Sucht den Super Star, I thought it was a unique German thing of a country saying: “We shall all be unconventional together haha!”

In this case, Sanjaya was named Daniel Kueblboeck and he’s had some image changes, but back in 2002-03 he even looked like Sanjaya

See for yourself, his web site here

I’m afraid he is going to win, and I see this as a primary reason American Idol is going downhill as a television show, and a concept. Sanjaya is cute, and an okay singer, but he is no star, in my book. Let the public have what they want, keep him coming back, give him the final prize, and 5 years from now, people will be asking who Sanjaya is. Jennifer Hudson, you rock! I hope that the more talented American Idol contestants, who are not getting the press Sanjaya is, use Ms. Hudson as their muse.

Kate - LOL. That Daniel Kueblboeck is hilarious.

Beth - I know what you mean. I do think that Sanjaya could be on a teen show or something or even in movies. He’s got likability. Heck, with musicals making a comeback, he could work in that genre as well. And, yes, there is no one other Idol contestant like Jennifer Hudson. Period.

We find it hilarious that americans keep voting Sanjara in, when in reality he is absolutly useless and an embaressment to the competition, it is a singing competition afterall which unfortunately america has lost sight of. It will be a very sad day for america should sanjaya win and not DESERVE it…..

I would like for American Idol to up the lower age limit for contestants. I don’t care for child abuse. What are we coming to? What about the judges? Sarcasm is a cruel form of humor to be using. The constructive criticism is more useful. Flaunt your wittiness elsewhere. Are you trying to compete with the idols for center stage. Maybe YOU should take lessons so you can be more professional.
