Why Idol Auditions Should Allow Instruments Part 1

June 14, 2007 by Jeanne

Here is one glaring example of why American Idol should allow the use of instruments during auditions (Australian Idol and Canadian Idol allow it).

Carly Rae Jepsen, 21 from Mission, B.C. So unique, so fresh, so creative. Can’t believe that’s an original song. She’s great!!!

Again, forgive the poor quality of the video

Why bother, Carly is the winner

Carly is pretty great. I don’t even know why they put her through. They’re just going to give her a whole bunch of crappy, cookie cutter songs that she’s just too original for. It’ll sound bad and she’ll get cut for no good reason.

Shouldn’t there be a clause that allows them to just sign the unique ones instead of trying to make them conform?
